Description

The brass copper lightning arrester is another product from the house of Electrogrip. Here, we use brass copper in order to manufacture this lightning arrester. With a length of 1 meter and a dia of ⅝ inches, this brass copper lightning arrester has a base dimension of 9*9 cm. It is basically a rod with five spikes and a spherical ball made of hi-tensile steel with a coating of pure copper, which enhances the conductivity. It is installed at the top of a building or tower along with a mast and FRP

With a coverage of 45 degrees, brass copper lightning arrester catches lightning within an area of three meters. You also can increase the coverage area by making it longer. One needs to connect a wire with the lightning arrestor to the earthing rod or electrode. Whenever the lightning strikes the arrestor it passes through the wire to the ground and protects the building from any kind of electrical hazards.

Measurements of Brass Copper Lightning Arrester:

Length 1 meter
Diameter ⅝ inches
Base Dimension 9*9 centimetres
Coating 250 microns Copper
Material Brass Copper
Category Lightning Protection System

Material details:

The lightning arrester is made of brass copper. With a copper coating of 250 microns, the inner portion is made of hi-tensile steel. The copper coating makes it more conducive and allows the surge current, which is produced due to lightning to pass to the ground really quickly.

Working principle:

The top portion of the lightning arrester has five sharp spikes. Whenever lightning happens within the range of the copper lightning arrester, it allows the surge current to flow through its body to the wire and ends in the ground. Brass copper lightning arrestor offers a coverage of 45 degrees from its peak, which is around an area of 3 meters. We can increase the coverage area by increasing the height of the lightning arrester.

Installation:

The whole installation process of this lightning arrester is quite simple and hassle-free. One needs to install a mast at the top of a building and then as a non-conductive material, also needs to attach an FRP mast to it. Lastly, fix the copper arrestor with the FRP. Connect the ground wire with the lightning arrestor in order to carry the surge current to the ground.

Advantages:

There are several perks of using this lightning arrester, they are

  • Being a great conductor, copper allows the surge current to flow easily.
  • With a weight of only 1.3kg, this is a piece of lightweight equipment.
  • Excellent work efficiency.
  • Protect the building from cracking and any kind of electrical hazards.
  • Easy installation.

Testing:

The testing is done according to the NFC 17102 (French standard).
